Felipe Martínez U. featured in postPerspective's Colorist Chat

postPerspective sat down with Felipe Martínez U., founder and Head of Color at WeMakeColor, for a wide-ranging conversation on the craft, the human side, and the philosophy behind his work as a colorist.

Across the interview, Felipe reflects on what people rarely see about the role — how much of a colorist's job is emotional rather than technical. "Being a colorist, especially in in-person sessions, turns you into a kind of therapist," he says, describing the delicate balance of reading the room, listening to the DP and the director, and finding the place where their visions overlap.

"We're not doing open heart surgery here," he says, when asked how he manages stress. "No one is going to die if we deliver an hour late. Obviously we want to meet expectations, but it's important to put that in perspective."
